Healing Power

March 7th, 2010

Ah, the healing power of music! Thank you Jeanne, Terry, George, Michael, Jack, Cannon & David for filling us with your musical vibrations! What a wonderful evening of joy. Thank you Barbara Smith for sitting in on Sax, and Ed Burgess on Guitar. Thank you Seth Stoddard for working on the lighting the night before, and then saving us at the last minute too!

Thank you to all the folks who pre-ordered tickets to make this our second sold-out show!

Next up…The Squids, lesser known in our area, they’ve been playing the upper valley for over 14 years. More guaranteed fun!!

After Frydaddy

February 9th, 2010

Thanks to everyone who attended the Shindig this past weekend. The the music was sure fun! I love looking around and seeing all the smiles.
We had less trash and recycling left over than ever, thank you for that too!
I’m sure looking forward to Jeanne & the Hi-Tops next month! The Shindigs must be successful if they are willing to play for us! Yea!

Big Announcement

January 13th, 2010

AND I just added the dates for the next season to the calendar page and GUESS WHAT! – DR. BURMA is going to play for us on New Years’ Eve this year!!! As if that weren’t enough great news, we’ve also secured The Stone Cold Roosters for next March! The Shindigs are just a crankin!

The Latest

January 13th, 2010

We’ve made quite a few changes to the site recently… Added pictures to the “Photos” button, added a new button called “Rules” to try to help make The Shindigs run more efficiently and… JUST IN… the April band has been announced! We’ve booked The Squids!
Season Passes for our next season will be available at the April and May Shindig. Consider purchasing a season pass to help support this cause and ensure your admittance to all The Shindigs.

New Year’s Eve follow up

January 2nd, 2010

What a wonderful starting point for 2010!
The music was awesome,(of course) the crowd was happy(as always) and the midnight balloon drop went off without a hitch!
I’ve heard from many people about what a great time they had and one band member even told me it was the “best ever!” All that makes it worth it for me.
The clean up was more than I’d hoped, I must say it would be surely be a better time for me, as the coordinator of The Shindigs, if folks really did heed the “pack it in, pack it out” rule. Having to take home all those nasty beer bottles is rather a drag.
Please remember that The Shindigs do not make money. All money collected from the cover charge goes to the band after paying the town hall rental fee and insurance.
We’ve gathered a nice core group that generally attend The Shindigs and I surely appreciate you all. We had many new faces at the NYE gig and I hope you all will keep our dances on your radar for future fun!

December 28th, 2009

Notes to the 2009-2010 New Years’ Eve Shindiggers:

• This Shindig is completely sold out. Please do not come if you do not have advance tickets, we will NOT be able to let you in.

• When you get to the Shindig, there will be two things you could spend money on:
1. There will be a tip jar for the band.
2. We will be holding a 50/50 raffle to benefit renovations to the Tunbridge Town Hall (and one lucky winner!). Tickets cost $2. each or 3 for $5.

• There is a munchie table provided, you may bring a dish to share if you like, but it’s not a requirement.

• PLEASE Pack it in – Pack it out.
If you brought it in with you, take it back home.
We are responsible for cleaning the Town Hall after a Shindig.

We’re looking forward to seeing you on the dance floor!

Thank you,
Janet

SOLD OUT!

December 24th, 2009

Wow, More than a week before the New Years’ Eve Shindig we are Sold Out!! I felt certain it would fill up, but didn’t know it would happen so fast! I surely wish there was more space at the Tunbridge Town Hall because it’s very difficult to say no, especially to my friends who are asking!!  But, alas, there is only so much space, and the capacity is a good one because 148 is a good number in that room. It’s best when it’s not too crowded.

PLEASE: If you don’t have a ticket, do not come to the New Years’ Eve Shindig. Only folks with advance tickets will be admitted. Yes, someone may not show up, but we won’t know that until the end. Ticket holders have the option of arriving up whenever they like. Last year we had people coming in at 11:30pm.

Next up we have Frydaddy with Carlos Ocasio on February 6th. He played for us last year, and it was incredible! Then in March we’ve secured Jeanne and the HiTops, an area favorite for many, many years!!

So, if you want to be sure you’ll get into the Shindig of your choice…. Order your tickets now!

Happy Holidays!

Sensible Shoes and NYE

December 9th, 2009

Well, what a night that was with Sensible Shoes! Barbara, Tim, Pooh and Steve really have it together and I love Their new CD! It’s just magical the way the whole room is electrified with happy energy. Folks dancing, smiling and loving life just the way it was meant to be. One Shindig regular described the Shindigs as being “extraordinarily important to the region which benefits intangibly but soulfully by such an evening of joy.” Thank you!  It’s all the musicians willing to play “for the door”, and dancers willing to attend that make it all work so well.

And now we are looking forward to New Years’ Eve with Hillary and the Party Crashers. This will be H&PC’s third Shindig

Fun Fun

November 8th, 2009

What a great time last night! So wonderful to see all the happy faces, familiar and new. Thank you everyone for attending, dancing and enjoying the scene. And thank you Shugarmakers for sharing your musical joy with us!!!
Now, we’re looking forward to Sensible Shoes! They’ll be releasing their latest CD at the Shindig, very exciting! Yea!

Looking forward to November 7th

October 20th, 2009

We’re very excited about the upcoming Shindig with The Shugarmakers! For those of you who don’t know, most of the members of The Shugarmakers were at the first official meeting we had on the idea of holding monthly dances. We call them the founding members of The Shindigs. Their lead guitar player, Jeff Staudinger, moved away to the Asheville, NC area last year and so they didn’t play a Shindig for the second season. Corey Unger filled the open position and they have been practicing and playing out together for a year now. Plus they added Bill Keos to play drums for our gig to really rock it out!

Also, we’ve been receiving orders already for the New Years’ Eve Shindig! It’s always a good idea to get your tickets early as there is a limit on capacity at the Tunbridge Town Hall. Speaking of tickets, the Season Passes will only be available thru Nov. 7th, so if you are considering that option, you may order online or they’ll still be available at the door during the next Shindig.

Looking forward to hearing Connie sing on Nov. 7th!
